The Timeline

Why Old Patterns Were Once Good Solutions

“That was ages ago.” Everyone has heard this sentence, and it has never helped. The past is not past as long as it keeps working — and it keeps working because it once had a good reason to.

Your pattern is not a defect

This is the thought that most often loosens something in a session, so let me put it right at the front: what stands in your way today was once the best solution available to you.

A child who learned to make itself invisible did not learn that out of weakness. In its situation it was clever. A child who learned to please everyone may thereby have saved the peace at home. These strategies worked — otherwise they would not have taken root so deeply.

The problem is not that you have them. The problem is that they still run, long after the situation has changed. A protective mechanism that is no longer needed feels, from the inside, like a character flaw. It is not one. It is a leftover.

Why time does not feel linear

On paper, time is a straight line. It is experienced quite differently. Something thirty years back can stand closer to you than last week — and a single tone of voice, a smell, one particular sentence can take you straight back there.

This is why working on the present is rarely enough. If the same situation always triggers the same thing in you, then the present is only the trigger, not the cause.

And the timeline has a second direction that tends to be forgotten. It also runs forward. Where do you actually want to go? A surprising number of people can describe at length what they no longer want — and fall silent when asked where to.

How we work with it

We do not go hunting for the one repressed event that explains everything. Such stories are seductive, but they are rarely true, and searching for them does more harm than good.

Instead we look at the pattern: when did it form, what was it good for back then, and where does it no longer carry you today? Once that has been said out loud, a pattern loses much of its power — not because it disappears, but because from now on you see it coming.

If something heavy surfaces, I will tell you so openly and refer you on. Coaching is not therapy, and I do not pretend it is.

So what does the module do?

The TimeWaver TimeLine module allows causally related points in time on a given theme to be analysed and harmonised along a timeline within the information field — and that timeline can span past, present and future.

What surfaces is a suggestion of where we might look. Not a verdict, not a truth about your history. You know your history better than any device does.

Curious which pattern is still running in you?

Tell me about your situation — you will receive three impulses from your information field, free, within 48 hours.
